Jon Morris Prairie Visions Photography Exhibit
The library, in partnership with the Spirit Room, will host a photography exhibit featuring images from the book Prairie Visions at the Main Library. The book is based on the writings of Pulitzer Prize winning author Hamlin Garland, best known for his depictions of Midwestern farmlands. The exhibit features Minneapolis-based artist Jon Morris' images from the book and these will be on display at the downtown Main Library from April 15 - May 15. This exhibit is made possible by a grant from the North Dakota Humanities Council to the Spirit Room. For more information contact Melisa at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Beginner Yoga at Carlson
This is a class for those who haven't tried yoga before or who want a refresher. The purpose of this class is to provide a relaxing environment to focus on taking card or YOU! Along with gentle stretching, this class will also teach breathing exercises to provide calmness. Bring a yoga mat if you have one or a large towel and wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in. This program is recommended for adults. Sunday Unplugged: a series of tiny concerts at the Dr. James Carlson Library
Join us at the Dr. James Carlson Library for an intimate listening room experience featuring the talents of solo artists and duos from the Fargo-Moorhead area. Featured artist is Kwaician a singer/songwriter who artistically layers instrumental and vocal samples to build a unique sound to accompany his original songs.
Green Card Youth Voices
The library is pleased to announce a spring book reading event featuring some of the student authors of the recently released book Green Card Youth Voices: Immigration Stories from a Fargo High School. A collection of 30 students' immigration stories, this book is designed to generate awareness about he immigration experience and provide young immigrants with a platform to tell their own narratives, in exactly the ways they want them to be heard. This event is free and open to all ages. A book signing will follow the presentation and books will be available for purchase. This book is a project of the Minneapolis-based nonprofit Green Card Voices which provides adult immigrants, and more recently, immigrants who are high school students, with a platform to share their personal stories concerning their journey to America.
